Tyrone Hopwood

Tyrone Hopwood is a specialist in financial institutions and brings to ASR over 17 years of experience; with a combination of risk and financial market skills, mainly acquired in the long-tail casualty markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Over the last 10 years, Tyrone has worked as a surety specialist in Sub-Saharan Africa focusing on the insurance and banking sectors. His previous underwriting tenures were spent at a Lloyd’s coverholder (Liability) and Stalker Hutchison Admiral (FI). He then joined JLT South Africa where he ran the Financial Institutions and Surety practice. After JLT he founded Formulate Insure, an active surety brokerage focusing on Africa.

Born in South Africa, Tyrone is a registered Equity Trader in terms of the rules and regulations of the JSE and holds a Masters in Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand.
