London, 13 October 2025 – Africa Specialty Risks (“ASR”), the developing markets focused (re)insurance group, announces the appointment of Elaine Mason as Head of Claims.
Elaine will be responsible for leading ASR’s claims function, including furthering claims operations, philosophy, and technology. Her mandate will also focus on designing and implementing a new talent strategy, including resourcing the function with best-in-class claims professionals.
Elaine will have responsibility for claims across all of ASR’s underwriting platforms in Bermuda, Mauritius, and at Lloyd’s.
Based in London, Elaine brings over 40 years of claims experience to ASR, including almost two-decades at ACE European Group, now Chubb, in varying senior claims roles. She also has sat on numerous Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s Market Association claims committees.
For the last fifteen years, Elaine has led Belvedere Mead, a claims consultancy she founded that provides claims expertise to specialty insurance organisations in the London Insurance Market. Elaine is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, ACII qualified and a former examiner of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Elaine will report to ASR COO Tunu Sokiri.
